Springfield Clinic is proud to announce that our Springfield Surgery Center was named an elite ASC for orthopedics and spine procedures by U.S. News & World Report. This recognition comes as a part of the publication’s 2026 Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers program. More than 4,400 ASCs were rated nationwide, and only 21% earned a badge.

Ensuring positive patient outcomes is the top priority of our Springfield Surgery Center physicians, providers and employees, so this recognition is well-placed; it takes teamwork at every touchpoint of the patient journey to provide a comfortable environment for patients and prevent complications that could result in unplanned hospital stays or longer recovery times.

“Being recognized among the Elite 21% of Ambulatory Surgery Centers reflects the Springfield Surgery Center’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional, high-quality patient care,” says Kaitlynn Miller, Operations Director of the Surgery Center. “This achievement is the result of our strong clinical outcomes and dedication of our entire team across every phase--from registration, through surgery, to discharge. We are grateful for this recognition and remain focused on providing safe, reliable and patient-centered ambulatory surgical care to our community.”

U.S. News & World Report aims to give patients a reliable way to assess their care options to help guide informed decisions. These ratings evaluate consistent, high-performing care;  surgery centers are graded on the number of procedures performed, length of stay, level of complications, unplanned ER visits, patient outcomes and unplanned hospital admissions. U.S. News & World Report utilized two CMS data sets, the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and the ASC Quality Reports (ASCQR).

Springfield Clinic celebrates the dedication of our Springfield Surgery Center team who worked towards this impressive achievement.

"We are incredibly proud to be recognized as an Elite Ambulatory Surgery Center for orthopedic and spine procedures,” says Christine Stuenkel, Vice President of Operations for Springfield Clinic. “The unwavering commitment of our physicians, providers, nurses and employees to deliver exceptional patient care has not only improved the lives of those we serve but has also earned national recognition for the high standards of quality and safety we strive to uphold. I am deeply grateful for their hard work and thankful to our patients for placing their trust in the Springfield Clinic Surgery Center."
